GIZ is happy to introduce the updated information of our global Project Development Programme (PDP), which is implemented in 20 countries, including Viet Nam.

The PDP combines development cooperation with entrepreneurial engagement from the private sector to promote climate-friendly energy solutions. It is an integral part of the German Energy Solutions Initiative, which is coordinated and financed by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK).  

The global programme focuses on:  

📌 Free and neutral advice: Primarily to local companies, facilitating contacts with German or European partners for project implementation. 

📌 Development of financially viable projects: Focusing on photovoltaic, battery storage, energy efficiency, and process heat projects together with local industries. 

📌 Identification of opportunities: Collecting and analysing data from energy consumers from a technical and economic perspective. 

📌 Training and studies: Building capacity and informing on market risks and potentials to support market development and promote the creation of private sector business cooperation.  

The PDP’s key results globally:  

🌟 Creating over 1,400 project opportunities. 

🌟Connecting about 450 local companies with solution providers. 

🌟Reducing expectedly up to 22 million tons of CO₂ equivalent (CO2e), which is comparable to the CO₂ stored in a forest with the size of 2.4 million soccer fields. 

In Viet Nam, the PDP has both shaped and supported the implementation of 186 project initiatives and connected more than 50 Vietnamese companies with German technology providers. Among those opportunities, the flagship projects such as the 4.84-MWp PV system for Mekong Logistics Hau Giang and the 1-MWp PV system for JiaHsin Long An were successfully implemented.  

The programme is expected to contribute to the reduction of 9.6 million tons of CO₂e annually.
